#681: Resist Not the Holy Ghost
Use Left/Right to seek, Home/End to jump to start or end. Hold shift to jump forward or backward.
Dr. Randy Davis, Pastor of Zion Word Church USA, brings a message about how the church is seemingly veering away from the presence of the Holy Spirit. Many people are falling away from the true faith and have turned their back on the One who save them. Don't resist the Spirit who is there to convict you of sin. It is a fearful thing to fall in to the hands of a living God.

I'm not gonna preach on the subject today. But I I will say the Lord came in on the donkey on Sunday, and one of the most terrible weeks and greatest weeks of all time. And Christ was crucified Wednesday or Thursday, not Friday. I won't go into detail. But we do know that he was crucified and he was resurrected before Sunday morning daylight. We understand that, right? And so that's why they sing that song, Hosanna, I guess. So it's all kind of fitting today. I wasn't really sure. But we got some great musicians and singers, do we not here? I mean, don't we? Now, if you don't want them, we can all just do away with it and just. Alright, well. But uh, we appreciate the abilities. Uh, but you know, everybody on the stage, they want to do something for God. Yeah. For you.
unknownThat's right.
SPEAKER_01To bless you, hopefully. Somehow, some way. But the main thing is the word of God. So let's go to Romans chapter 6, chapter 8 today. I'll get it right. We do have two services on Sunday morning. This one's not here, alright? Plus Sunday night. So Monday I'm wrong out. Leave me alone, okay? That's the way it is in the ministry. You fill up and you give out, and then people go, they go, What's the matter with you? Well, uh, you get empty. And then the Holy Spirit has to fill you back up. And the sermons come sometime in the middle of the night, about two or three o'clock. I wake up and then I don't get any sleep. It's the Lord's fault. Not really. Not really. I don't know why he does it that way. I don't know. A lot of times God will speak to me in an intermediate state. Between Rim of sleep and being conscious. Somewhere in the middle there, I'll hear things and see things sometimes. That's the way God deals with me. But today, verse 9 of Romans 8. The Bible says, But you are not in the flesh, but in the spirit. Everybody say we're in the spirit. Well, more importantly, the spirit's in you. Let's let's, you know, first things first. Like uh, we don't always have the victory, but the victory has us. Anyway, if so be the spirit of God dwells in you. Now that's a good deal. Those are the ones going to heaven. Now, if any man have not the spirit of Christ, he's none of his. Lost. He's talking to the church. There are people that say they're saved, but they don't have the Holy Spirit. So I must conclude any human being that doesn't have the Holy Spirit is not saved. I must conclude that. Do you have the Holy Spirit? We need to take an evaluation of our own lives sometimes. Now he abides faithful. And there's a promise to believers in Hebrews 13 and verse 5, Sister Mary's gone on to be with the Lord. But she's sitting right there. And I can still see her jumping off that step right there. The old timers, who's gonna take their place? Now Mildred's gone, and so forth and so on. Now she did have a long testimony, I gotta admit that. But the Lord, it's okay. She's gone on to be with the Lord. To wait for the resurrection. They're happy. We're miserable. They're happy. No, we got a mage people. Let your conversation be without coveting. Covet. Be content with such things as you have. I'm not happy. Be content. As you have, for he hath said, say with me, I will never leave thee nor forsake thee. That's a promise to believers. Mary was always saying that, prophesying that way. Because it's a scripture. But we can leave God. I'm not a Calvinist, I'm not an Armenian. I'm in the middle. If you don't know what that means, do some studies. I don't have time to go into detail today. Basically, it's one saved, always saved. And the other, on the other side, you can lose your salvation just by any sinning. No. So they're both wrong, and they're both right in their own way. Anyway, this promises to believers the Holy Spirit will never leave us nor forsake us. But we have warnings in the Bible, and we need to heed these warnings because God doesn't make a mistake. His word is the final authority. In Jude chapter 1 and verse 17 today. 17 to 19. But beloved, talking to us. Remember the words which were spoken before the apostles of our Lord Jesus Christ? How that they told you there should be mockers in the last time. Boy is that mouthful. Who should walk after their own ungodly lust. Who are these people? Verse 19 tells us. These are they which separate themselves, central, having not the spirit. Having not the spirit. Mockers don't have the spirit. What are they mocking? Who are they mocking? That's the question. And folks, now we've got to be careful. And not go along with their mocking because we'd be accessory to the fact. And God's very meticulous about this. Now it's one thing to be saved, but another thing to be saved, but then lost again. Someone said, Well, can a sheep a goat become a sheep? Well, certainly. But then a sheep could become a goat again, sad to say. And Romans 3, 18, I believe it is today. Let me take a peek here. Back to the book of Romans. Bless your hearts today. There's no fear of God before their eyes. Everybody knows this verse of scripture. But do we see that in our country and in the world? I'm telling you. They don't fear God. And we better fear God and keep his commandments. Which are not grievous. What's his commandments? Whatever he tells you to do. We're not under the law, but there are still principles that we must adhere to. Then we go to Matthew 10, 28 this morning, please. Hallelujah. Read a letter said, This is Jesus quoting Christ, of course. Fear not them which can kill your body, but are not able to kill your soul. But rather fear him that's God, which is able to destroy both soul and body in hell. Now, folks, that's strong. We better fear God a little bit. A lot. Amen. But Paul said there's no fear of God before their eyes. And so we have this problem. Even in the church, some of you don't fear God. If you feared God like we should, you'd love Him more. That's the first and great commandment, is to love God with all your heart and mind and soul and your neighbor as yourself. That's a great commandment. If you do one commandment, there's no problem with the rest. But we need to love God. He needs to be number one in our lives. And what he says, that's the way it's going to be. But Peter warns us something now. Here comes the warning in 2 Peter chapter 2. And someone said, Aren't you going to preach on you know Palm Sunday? I have to give what God gives me through the week. And 2 Peter 2 and verse 20. And I'm going to tell you, there's a few of you on shaky grounds. You best get straightened out. No, I'm serious about it. I don't know anything, but I can sense and feel and discern some things. And mainly it's your attitude. Your attitude affects your altitude. I'll tell you what, when the trumpet sounds, we're going to find out. But folks, there's no second chance. Now come on now. There's no easy way to give this, but I'm going to give it today. It's the word of God in verse 20. For if after they have escaped the pollution of the world through the knowledge of the Lord Jesus Christ, how many knows who Jesus is and has accepted Him as your Savior and Lord? That's great. But if they are again entangled, again entangled, they were entangled, now they're loose from the bondage of sin, and now they're entangled again, which is backslid. And overcome, so they can still get out of this situation. But if they persist and they're overcome by the situation, the latter is worse with them than the beginning. Now we're in deep water, we're in trouble. And sad to say, many people are like that in the church in the United States of America. And it grieves the heart of God. And then the Apostle Peter went on to say, for if it had been better for them not to have known the way of righteousness. See, they were saved. Than after they have known it, to turn from the holy commandment delivered unto them. They turn away and walk away from the Savior. You do it by actions and deeds and lifestyle. We need to keep God first in our life. But it happened to them, verse 22. According to the true proverb, the dog turned to his own vomit again. I've seen that them hound dogs will do that. It's sickening. And the sow that was washed to her wallowing in the mire, right back to the hog pen. Sad situation. And it all starts off by resisting the spirit. I feel that sometimes here. Not always, but sometimes. And it ought not to be if you fear God. The fact is, we need God. That's the truth. And when you think you don't need God, you're gonna find out that you do. God will see to that. Even the mighty Hulk Hogan had to admit he needed saved. Chuck Norris, you know, the kung fu guy. I understand he was a believer in Christ. Well, anybody's got any sins, hey, is gonna accept the Savior because there's no other way to escape damnation. For one, that's a pretty good reason, don't you think? Well, we better not resist the spirit. Now, Stephen came up with this problem. He faced this problem in Acts chapter 7 and verse 51. Oh, I wish they wouldn't prophesy so much. Well, I wouldn't God, all God's people prophesy. Because without the spiritual gifts and operation, God's not gonna do much. Amen. And yet, 19 churches in this town, you're gonna be hard-pressed to find a half a dozen that believes in the Holy Spirit gifts. I know they don't operate all the time, but we don't push it out. We don't push the Holy Spirit out. We want him in. It's up to us. But if we resist when he comes in, there you sit. And other people suffer because we quench the spirit. That ought not to be in the Pentecost church now. That ought not to be. Well, if I get in the spirit, if I get in the spirit, I might act like a holy roller. Would that God everybody was a holy roller? Are you a holy roller? Have you ever rolled on the floor under the spirit? Then you're not a holy roller. Well, I don't believe in men slain in the spirit. You better read the Bible. How'd you like it being slain in the spirit and the Son of Man comes and picks you up by the hair of the head? You see, in the last days there's going to be people that deny the power of God, and the command is from such turn away. Well, our social committees, forget it. You don't need coffee and donuts when you come to church. Holy Spirit lives, got to have more donuts.
unknownThat's right.
SPEAKER_01We laugh about it, but folks, it's really serious. And judgment starts right behind the pulpit. And now I'm going to answer to God Almighty for what I preach and teach in this behind this pulpit. It doesn't matter if you don't like it. I'm going to answer to King Jesus. And so do you. Because once the message is given, now you're accountable to accept or reject. And if you reject, and it is right from the scripture, now you're quenching and grieving the Holy Spirit. Because you don't want to change. No, the Holy Spirit is a spirit of change. If we're not challenged to change, we're never going to grow. But there is a fear that I have. Well, it's not that kind of fear. It is too. Fear of God to destroy your body in hell. Burn forever. No such thing is annihilation. It's forever. The lake of fire is forever. And a lot of people are going to say, Lord, Lord, didn't we do many wonderful works? He's going to say, I never knew you. It's not about the works, it's about our commitment and our relationship with King Jesus. That's what it's all about. If we love Him, we're going to stand for truth. Amen. The mega churches are closing down because people are sick of it and they're coming back to the small churches that teach and preach the word of God. That's what's going on right now. And that's the way it should be. But in Acts chapter 7, 51, there's not many preachers preach this way today. You stiff necked. What's that mean? Search out the Greek. I'm nice today. Uncircumcised heart and ears, that's that's not saved. It's the strangest thing. Talks about the uncircumcision of the heart. You know, back in the Jewish custom that circumcised the male child at eight years old. Then the after the Indians picked up on that and began to scalp. Oh, they scalped. A lot of times they got carried away and just took a hatchet and cut off top of the head. Half the skull and everything. Folks, study your history a little bit. What's that gonna do with anything? It don't. Heard this joke about one time about this mother-in-law was having to live with this young family. And uh she ran off with a state trooper. So this guy was driving down the road, and this state trooper's trying to pull him over, and he wouldn't pull over on his 80-mile ladder, 20-mile-hour zone. Finally he pulled over, and the trooper goes, Why didn't you pull over? But you know, it's almost time for me to get off shift, and if you could give me one good reason why I shouldn't write you a ticket, I'll let you off. He goes, Well, officer, two years ago my mother-in-law ran off with the state trooper, and I thought you were bringing her back. He didn't get a ticket. I think it's kind of funny. Dear Lord. She's moving in with you all. She's moving in with you all when I'm out of here. No, if if I leave and trivia goes to out there, we're gonna run a garden hose out there and she can live in a little, you know, camper. Can I get back on this? I gotta your mother-in-law's moving in. Woo! Praise God. It's okay. It's temporary, right? We're softening up a little bit here, okay. Just act like it's
SPEAKER_00I am working. Now, let's get back to the big powerful message with Dr. Wayne.
SPEAKER_01But then you got serious now. You resist the Holy Ghost. Uh-oh. As your fathers did, so do you. Man, that's straight. They couldn't take it. And they stoned him. Well, I don't know why God allows the prophets to be killed that way, but he knows best. So Stephen preached against resisting the Holy Spirit, and so must I. Now in Acts uh 10 28, please. Praise the Lord. You know, if I walk in the natural, it's like a total failure. But we're not walking in the flesh, we're walking in the spirit. Amen. I suppose I'm the least of the same. I'm not worthy to stand here and preach the gospel for three or four decades like this. And uh I take it very serious. Love of God really is what constrains me. And I'll tell you, you know. Some of us are just not lovable, and yet I'm not lovable sometimes. But but God loves us anyway. Right. So we just have to go on and let God be God with our lives and and uh walk in the spirit will not fulfill the lust of the flesh. Anyway, when people do not walk in the spirit, they don't please the Lord. You see, faith works by love. The only way faith's ever gonna work is love. God's love seems to make faith easy. I've been thinking about speaking to the mountain and the mountain doesn't move. Well, we're gonna move it one shovel at a time. Hallelujah. And so in the near future, Billy has a gold shovel. Hallelujah. We're gonna go up there and we're gonna have a groundbreaking service. Turn on Facebook. I might even get K O A M T V to come down, check this thing out, you know? Think I want to do it? I will do it. Are you gonna shovel the first dirt? The first shovel of dirt? No, money is. He don't know it yet. I don't know. I just like this stuff to upset the community. You know, they're talking, they're talking big time now. Anyway, back on this, where am I at here? Hebrews 10.28. Can you take this one now? All right then. He that despised Moses died without mercy. Man, under two or three witnesses. That's tough. But how much sore punishment, suppose ye, shall he be thought worthy who had trodden underfoot the Son of God? Now we're talking backslid here. And then counting the blood of the covenant. See, they were in covenant with God. Are you listening to me? Nobody. One. I'll take the one, okay? Wherewith he was sanctified. Well, sanctified by the blood of the Lamb. Anybody sanctified today? Okay, that's good. But this individual thought it was an unholy thing and done despite the spirit of grace. Now the spirit's involved in this, the Holy Spirit. That did despite the spirit of grace. The spirit of grace is the one that saved us to start with. Jesus is a savior, but the way he saves us is the Holy Spirit, new birth. You understand that? Do you understand that? So the Holy Spirit, the representative of Christ, comes to live inside of us because we've accepted him as Savior and Lord. His blood's applied, and now our name's in the book, and we are saved by the blood of the Lamb. Then the Holy Spirit can legally come in and work as He is fit, changing us from glory to glory. That's the way that it works. The end result is heaven. But if we turn and walk away, you don't know what Sister South said. I don't care. It means nothing to me. And it shouldn't mean nothing to you. They're not judge or an executioner. We got one we're going to answer to and him alone. That's good enough. We're in the same boat together. That's all right. That's the way it must be. That's the way it will be. But these people that were saved do despite the spirit of grace. And we know him that he has said, Vengeance belonged to me, I will recompense, saith the Lord. And again, the Lord shall judge his people. And the next verse is really a kicker. It's a fearful thing to fall in the hands of a living God. Folks, folks, no. I fear God more than. Don't you? What's our hope? Jesus is our only hope. There is no other. Praise God. But He is faithful. But this individual that was saved steps over the line. The next step down is really tough. And it gets to the point where there's no hope. There are some people from my viewpoint that almost are without hope. I said, almost. If their heart's beaten and they're in church and they want God, you got it made! Hallelujah! Everyone's got it made. But you can step over the line and you're gone. In Matthew 12, 31, then can you take this? We're almost done. For shortening the sermons, you can't take it anymore. Matthew 12, 31 tells us all manner of sin and blaspheme shall be forgiven. Can I have an amen? All manner of sin shall be forgiven. Folks, that's good news. And really, that's for us today. It shall be forgiven. Of course, you have to repent and turn from it. You understand the basics. But blasphemy against the Holy Ghost shall not be forgiven unto men. Uh-oh. It's worse than crispy crudder time. No escape. Whosoever, what is blasphemy? Well, it's complicated, but one aspect to it is this. Verse 32, who speaks a word against the Son of Man, it shall be forgiven him. But whosoever speaks against the Holy Ghost, it shall not be forgiven him, neither in this world nor in the world to come. In other words, no hope for eternity. Who can blaspheme the Holy Spirit? Who wants to know? Nobody. Well, I'm going to tell you anyway. A sinner cannot. They don't know the Holy Spirit. So it has to be a Christian, more specifically, probably a spirit-filled Christian. That's known the power of the world to come. Known the power of God, known the anointing. If they blaspheme the Spirit, it's all over. Is it possible? Not probable, but possible. I'll tell you, talking against the Spirit is very dangerous. If you don't go along with some of the stuff, and there's some similar stuff in the Pentecost church I don't go along with. Too much flesh. But I don't go along with the deadheads either. First church that frozen chosen. We're in the middle here somewhere. There's got to be this balance. But if you're right with God, sooner or later you're going to get happy because you're saved. There's too much of this. Pray for me and I'll endure the bitter end. It's a hard away. I'm sick of that stuff. There was a time and a place that we had problems that's temporary. If you're in Christ, he's not going to leave you, he's going to pull you through the mess, and you will grow in the process. That's called maturing. Amen. But the warning here, it's a warning to the church, to the believers, to don't speak against the Holy Ghost. You're pretty dangerous speaking against those that operate in the Holy Ghost, too. You know that? Real dangerous. Now the last scripture today is even tougher, can you take it? First John 5 and verse 16. Well, it's some Palm Sunday message. Well, it is what it is. Oh boy. Verse 16. First John. Let's start with uh Verse 17, please. I'm injured. Wait a minute here. I'm not in a hurry today. I'm in African mode. Hallelujah. African mode. You might understand what that means, some of you. If any man see a sin, a s if any man see his brother sin, now we're talking Christians. Alright. See. Not suspect. C. Suspicion is gossip. Now there are things God reveals to his servants about the gift of certain spirits that is supernatural. We're not talking about that. We're talking about if another Christian or another brother or sister sees one sinning. We have authority and a big pull with the Father God. Big pull with the Father God. It's almost beyond my comprehension, but this is what the Bible teaches. If any man sees his brother's sin, his sin which is not unto death, so all manner of sins are forgivable. They're not under death, they're not under the lake of fire, they're not gonna go to make you go to hell. But if you persist in a lifestyle that'll keep you out of the rapture, you're lost. So the way we teach it, everybody that's saved and run with God is gonna go when the trumpet sounds, and everybody that's not stand. Well, we got to prove our righteousness and our ability to overcome the Antichrist. We got to overcome. Hey, if the blood of Christ will help us overcome, y'all will go into hell. We don't have to prove nothing. Jesus has proved it for us. Some of you need to get over this now and get them on with the program. We're overcoming by the blood of the word of our testimony, heaven, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, driver, lives until the death. People have been persecuted now in this world by the thousands and their believers. By the way, Islam wants to kill America and kill the church and Israel. They teach that if they can annihilate Israel, their Savior will come. It's the wrong one. Anyway, the Bible is telling us now, warning us. Let's look at it again. If any man see his brother sin, a sin which is unto death, he shall ask, and he shall give him life for them that sin not unto death. Folks, that's what I call authority. We all deserve nothing. But if we that are spiritual see a brother or sister doing something bad, bad wrong, that'll keep them out of heaven. Forget the small stuff. The big things. We can ask God, Father, please forgive them. Give them repentance, give them mercy. We're standing in the gap for them. Don't let them go too far. Turn them back to Christ. We got to pray that way and believe that way. That's your authority. All manner of sin. I don't care what it is, except one. Well, actually, there's two in the one. The first sin that'll send you to hell is calling the blood of Christ nothing more than that of a bull or a goat. Which is synchromeshed into the blasphemy. Blasphemy against the Holy Ghost. He goes on to say, there is a sin under death. Say it with me. There is a sin under death. That is blaspheme. I know the commentaries don't teach this, but they're wrong. They soften it up too much. And I do not say that you pray for it. In other words, if a person steps over the line and commits the unpardonable sin, do not pray for them, do not ask God to forgive them. There is no hope. They're out. This is church government. Now I got news for us today, and those that are listening, you haven't committed this sin. You know why? Because those that bless him the Holy Ghost will never be convicted again. They'll have no desire for God again. They'll never darken the church door again. They'll never name the name of Jesus again except in a curse word. They're gone. Void. Holy Spirit left them. And now they're going to hell, and there's not one thing we can do about it. That's not you. By the grace of God, that's not us. So actually, we got it made. I don't care what we do wrong. God is merciful. Hallelujah. You can pray for me. If I do something wrong, God will forgive me. I'll pray for you. You do something wrong, God will forgive you. He forgives us together. We need forgiveness sometimes. Because we could be doing something wrong and not even really aware of it until it's brought to our attention by the Spirit. And one way the Spirit deals with us as somebody prays for us. You know what? If somebody hadn't prayed for my soul and prayed for me, I'd be lost. We need to understand the power of our authority in Christ. We got a big pull with the Father God. Hallelujah. He gives ear to our cries. Especially when we pray for somebody else. Father, please forgive them. They don't know what they're doing. That's what Jesus prayed. Did you get that? Father, forgive them. They don't know what they're doing. Stephen said, don't lay this sin to their charge. See that love of God there? What do we do? Oh, kill him, get him out of here. Folks, that's not the right spirit. In danger. It's not the right spirit. All unrighteousness is sin, and there's a sin not unto death. I know there's a sin not unto death, but there's a sin under death. And I pray none of you ever make it. You never do it. No. God help us to fear God more than that. And I believe you do. Don't you? You fear God more than that. You're not going to blaspheme the Holy Spirit. So you got it made. Now, some of you, when you get to heaven, you're going to go to kindergarten for a while. Be taught the first principles of how the kingdom of God operates. Well. No hunger for the Holy Spirit. No hunger for the Holy Spirit ever again. You've forsaken him. No. He must forsake you forever. That is the warning. God told Ezekiel to warn the righteous and warn the wicked. And I asked God one time, why do I need to warn the righteous? And he said to me, paraphrase, because I told you to. Because you see, sometimes people love God go astray. Let's stand up.
